FRIGUS EV ICE 3 provides great driving pleasure for drivers with a good driving experience and knowledge of how cars and tires should work. The Frigus tire has a significantly more stiffened tire stem than many other well-known tire brands, see short Youtube. Such a stiffened tire trunk provides increased stability on the road, which is important when the electric car is significantly heavier than fossil cars. The world's tire manufacturers make their tires exclusively for fossil cars, but have gradually started to label their tires with different EV symbols, even though the tire stems are still the same as on the standard tires.
The WLTP standard for electric car range has an average speed of 46.5 and is based on the lightest wheels equipped with summer tires. Heavy wheels require much more rotational energy than light wheels, so wheel weight and tire dimension are important, but also important is a rigid tire stem that does not deform when the tire rolls. Soft tire strain deforms more and therefore requires more energy when the tire rolls fast.
FRIGUS EV ICE 3 has a tire stem that is designed for 10-12% higher air pressure than normal, which results in significantly lower energy consumption at all speeds. EU eco-label for rolling resistance measured against a drum is not transferable to normal road surface. For electric cars, it is the tire's ability to avoid deformation in both profile, tire stem and rubber, which applies. All parameters such as rigid tire stem, higher air pressure and longitudinal tire pattern give the market's by far the lowest rolling resistance measured against tires with the same rubber hardness.
FRIGUS EV ICE 3 has 4 large continuous drainage channels. On wet roads, there is a significant difference between tires that drain well, compared to tires that push water waves. As previously mentioned at the top of the article, it takes a lot of energy to push a water wave in front of the tire. When aquaplaning occurs, it is because energy used to push the water wave lifts the car from the ground. Therefore, an optimized electric car tire should drain as much water as possible through the tire, instead of pushing the energy-intensive water wave in front of it.
Large through-drainage channels do the job excellently, and a new tire naturally drains better than a half-worn tire.
Measurements show that very soft winter rubber brakes less well on wet asphalt in plus degrees. On pure ice it is the other way around, and therefore we never recommend studded tires on heavy electric cars and fossil cars. Studded tires must necessarily have a much harder rubber to hold the studs. The FRIGUS EV ICE 3 tire has a medium soft rubber compound which is assigned a lamellar structure in a draining longitudinal rolling pattern. During hard decelerations, the longitudinal labels will support each other so that the tire maintains a good frictional force. FRIGUS EV ICE 3 has a durable adhesive natural rubber that adheres well to both wet asphalt, ice and snow. The only weakness with this construction is slightly poorer lap times on a frozen lake, but the tire is also not intended for skidding around lakes. The tire is designed to optimize properties and safety for electric cars under real driving conditions on all relevant winter surfaces.
Medium to soft Nordic natural rubber compound that adheres equally well to ice and snow throughout its life separates the tire from a fully synthetic rubber compound. We experience that fully synthetic plastic rubber hardens after repeated heating cycles. A heating cycle is driving over a distance that gives the tire a normal internal working temperature of approx. 35 degrees. Therefore, FRIGUS EV ICE 3 is developed with a large proportion of natural rubber to maintain the soft adhesive property throughout the life of the tire.
FRIGUS EV ICE 3 has a soft and quiet rubber compound, and the longitudinal and easy-rolling tire pattern results in the low noise level that we measure inside the car. Among the top 5 most famous winter tire brands, we measure FRIGUS EV ICE 3 to by far the lowest noise level, measured at the lower screen edge on Model 3, Y, S and X. The measurements will be very similar for other car brands, and you can measure the noise level with the mobile app '' soundmeter '' or similar apps. Note that the measurements are made between brand new tires, and not between brand new and slightly used. A brand new winter tire emits significantly more noise until it is run-in. Normally a winter tire is run-in after 20-30 miles.
FRIGUS EV's optimized electric car winter tire ICE 3 makes its contribution to the environment with energy savings, but the most important contribution is less plastic rubber in nature. Durable natural rubber emits less dust particles from the tire to nature, and the natural rubber breaks down. Fully synthetic plastic rubber tires turn into microplastic, which eventually ends up in the drinking water. If you drive a FRIGUS EV ICE 3, you also contribute to the environment.
